Employee information

For the staff of Columbia Dental Lab the due date is of paramount importance.  All due dates will be met.  It is a company policy that all phone calls be answered by the second ring and all technical questions be answered by experienced technicians.  All billing questions will be answered by our office billing staff.  Drivers are not permitted to answer questions regarding lab procedures.

Once a case is received into the laboratory it is logged in.  This is our first checkpoint to insure quality control.  Boxes are opened one at a time to prevent co-mingleing of case contents. The prescription is checked for due date, return date requested, Doctor's signature and shade.  We will call ASAP if any of the above is missing.  The contents of each case are placed into a pan and given a unique identification number and the pan is routed to the appropriate department.
The pan is then handled by an experienced technician.  Key checks are in place to insure maximum quality on each and every case.  Example: After model and die work all models are inspected by the lab manager.  Dies, margins, and contact areas are checked to insure that they have not been compromised by bubbles or abrasions by saws, burs, or other processes.  If the case meets the labs high quality standards it is metal finished and polished.

Prior to it's return to the Doctor's office, all cases are checked by the lab owner and billed by our office staff.  The case is then delivered on time to its location.
Our company policy is to maintain a high quality standard while giving our Providers and our patients the best possible service.  Service requires flexibility, for instance, a patient is having a problem with their temporary a day or two before their appointment, we are asked, "can we get it sooner?"  The lab manager will check the restoration's present status in the lab.
If we can still meet our high quality standards we will gladly rush processing for your patient.  Another example, you have a crown under a partial that needs to be done but the patient is too embarrassed to go out without the partial.  They can bring the case into the lab, with Doctor's permission, the patient can wait in the lab while the case is poured, cleaned and returned to the patient, within 30 minutes.  We will fabricate the model and die work and the patient will be instructed to return to the lab so that we can wax (fit) the crown to the patient's existing partial, this will also take about 30 minutes.  The patient has now been without their partial for a total of one hour compared to the three day policy of most labs and can now go to lunch.
